Essential Energy will soon fly over Goulburn, using specialized high-definition equipment attached to a helicopter to undertake new assessments of the power grid. The work is being undertaken in light of the “devastating” fires of 2019 and 2020. Better capture using a stand-alone image capture sensor means more images can be taken along a more direct and higher flight path than in previous years. Previously, the helicopter had to fly at low altitudes and frequently over certain power lines to achieve the same quality.
