They have held on and are now in the final stages of preparation with the curtain raising on Friday January 14th.

Additional performance will allow greater spacing between rows of seats.

As an added precaution, the public will be encouraged to wear masks.

Spokesman Martin Love said, “Treasure Island – The Panto is a scorcher of a show.

“We might be a long way from Robert Louis Stevenson’s original Treasure Island, but the gist is there.

“Long John Silver and his band of pirates have glass eyes on the treasure, of course.

“However, to compete with Squire Trelawny, who is also looking for the treasure, they have to call in the ladies of the Smugglers Cove Women’s Institute as well as a few clumsy sailors (Willy and Sam)!

“Not ideal for hackers but it has hilarious consequences for the public!”

“Jim Hawkins, the main boy, soon falls in love with the beautiful Squire girl and they embark on an adventure to retrieve the treasure.

“Jim’s mum (the Lady) and Polly the pantomime parrot add color and hilarity and are sure to be a big hit with kids and adults alike.”

Martin added: “Treasure Island – The Panto was written by Ben Crocker and production is directed by Peter Ingledew.”

The musical director of the show is David Barnett and the choreographers are Karen Blunden and Alice Forward.

“The show schedule is a bit different for Henfield.

“They take place over two weekends, Fridays and Saturdays, so there are six performances in total (one more than usual), including two mornings.

“The additional performance allows the number of seats to be reduced and the row spacing to be increased.

“The public will also be encouraged to wear masks. As usual, the production will have a live band.

“Come to one of the mornings dressed as pirates and prizes will be awarded to the best costumed children.

“Tons of pirate gifts will also be available for purchase for pirates of all ages!

“Get your tickets and have fun – this one is really going to have the aaarrrr factor!”

Treasure Island – The Panto sets sail on January 14, 15, 21 and 22 with evening performances starting at 7:30 p.m. and mornings on both Saturdays at 2:30 p.m.

“A great team has been put together and everyone is looking forward to the fun.”

Tickets, priced at £ 13 for adults and £ 10 for children under 16, are available at the Stevens Estate Agents box office, Henfield.

Tickets are also available on the theater company’s website at henfieldtheatrecompany.com.

“The production is kindly sponsored by Coles Automotive. Don’t miss it or you might receive … the dreaded black spot! “
